When I was a cub scout in Vienna, I met Kurt Elias (Kule). As a scout in the same troop or colone, we met again in New York and developed a true friendship over the years. Kule maintained his wonderful humanity and warmth through all the years of his medical career. One day he heard Ida and me talking about Rita Kahane, a friend of ours who was dying of cancer. Even though he had never met her, Kule volunteered to visit her at home and talk to her. He made her dying days much more comfortable. That is how I will remember him. I will miss his caring and warm frienship.
