Kurt and I met at City Hospital when he was a medical student and I was his resident. We became friends right away . About a year or so later he joined me at Montefiore Hospital when we both were working as Internists at the Montefiore Medical Group. As desciribed in other comments Kurt was a special physician in that he involved himself with the whole patient, his family, his background, and his day to day problems. He devoted himself in teaching the residents at the hoispital to treating the hospital patients in the same way. His rounds became famous because they 'offered insights to the resident..He presented the patient as a "whole " patient instead of a list of symptoms and lab work. It is hard to believe but his method was a ground breaker at that time. He will not be forgotten
