Dr. Elias and my father, John Pond, were very close friends at Rhodes College (then Southwester at Memphis). He never forgot Dad, and when Dad moved to a nursing home, and contact by telephone became problematic, Dr. Elias sent audio cassette greetings. When we had first relocated to New England, my wife and I with our two boys had the great pleasure of spending a weekend with Dr. Elias and Gloria at their home in upstate New York. What a great man, and what an interesting life. I don't recall him referring to himself as "Dr Elias" by the way, it was always "tell John Kurt called".
